About me
Kia ora! I’m Ilana.
I am a senior lecturer in clinical psychology at Massey University’s Wellington campus and licensed clinical psychologist in New York and New Zealand. I research the role of emotions in LGBTQ+/Rainbow mental health disparities, particularly among youth and their families.
Prior to joining Massey, I completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Yale LGBTQ Mental Health Initiative, where I conducted research on affirmative mental health approaches for LGBTQ+ youth and adults. I received my Ph.D. in clinical psychology from The Ohio State University in 2020 (with a secondary concentration in quantitative psychology), and completed my predoctoral clinical internship at UCLA’s Semel Institute (general child track). In 2012, I received my B.A. in psychology and history of science/medicine at Yale University.
In my spare time, I love traveling and exploring (check out my #trynewthings tab for some recent adventures).
