Clinical Services

While I spend most of my time teaching and conducting research at Massey, I do carry a small caseload at the Massey University Psychology Clinic in Wellington.

I am passionate about providing effective, evidence-based psychological care to youth and their families.

Experience

 

I completed my clinical training in the USA at Ohio State University, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, UCLA, and Yale. I have worked with youth and their families across a wide range of settings, including inpatient psychiatric units, inpatient medical floors, outpatient medical clinics, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs, and outpatient behavioral health. In my role as a Senior Lecturer, I also develop and refine existing mental health treatments to be more affirming and responsive to the unique needs of LGBTQ+/Rainbow individuals.

My areas of expertise include:

    LGBTQ+ folks

    I am passionate about serving the queer community (particularly youth), and develop affirming interventions that address this community’s unique needs. I am an expert in LGBTQ+ affirming cognitive behavioral therapy.

  • Anxiety, depression, OCD

    I have specialized training in treating most kinds of anxiety and mood disorders, as well as OCD, tic, and related disorders, in children, teens, and adults.

  • ADHD

    I have years of experience working with parents (individually & in groups) to develop effective behavior management strategies for youth with ADHD and other behavior problems.

  • Cognitive & learning assessments

    I enjoy conducting cognitive and learning assessments with children and adolescents who may be experiencing difficulties at school.
